How much of your team's time is actually billable?
Enter available and billable hours per employee for a month. You'll see each person's utilization rate, the team's utilization and what the gap to your target is worth at your billable rate. Runs in your browser — nothing is stored.
Pre-filled values are a fictional example — replace them with your own numbers. Value = hours × your average billable rate; it shows potential, not invoiced revenue.
How the calculator works
Utilization rate
Billable hours ÷ available hours × 100. Example: 128 h ÷ 160 h = 80%.
Team utilization
Sum of billable hours ÷ sum of available hours — not the average of individual percentages.
Billable value
Billable hours × average billable rate.
Revenue gap
(Available hours × target % − billable hours) × rate, counted only for people below target.
Utilization is only as accurate as your time logs.
If hours are reconstructed on Friday afternoon, utilization is a guess. With opiq TEAM, your team logs work per client with one click as they go — timer, "My day" or a manual entry — and you see hours per client, team and employee, plus profitability by client.
- No screen recording, keystroke logging or location tracking
- Live team board: who is working, on break, absent or not logging
- Runs in the browser and on phones; first entry in about 5 minutes

Billable utilization questions
What is billable utilization?
Billable utilization is the share of an employee's available hours that is spent on work you can bill to clients: billable hours ÷ available hours × 100. If someone has 160 available hours in a month and logs 112 billable hours, their utilization is 70%.
Which hours count as available?
Usually the paid working hours in the period minus holidays, sick leave and other absences. Some firms use total paid hours instead; pick one definition and use it consistently, otherwise month-to-month comparisons are meaningless.
What is a good utilization rate?
There is no universal number — it depends on the role and the business. Owners and managers spend much of their time on sales, admin and leadership, so their utilization is naturally lower than that of a full-time specialist. Set a target per role from your own data, then track the trend.
How do I calculate the revenue gap?
Multiply the available hours by your target utilization to get the target billable hours, subtract the billable hours you actually logged, and multiply the difference by your average billable rate. The result shows what the missing hours would be worth if you could bill them.
Where do I get billable and non-billable hours?
From work logs. With opiq TEAM, employees log work per client with one click (timer, "My day" or a manual entry), so you see hours per client, team and employee without spreadsheets — and without screen recording or keystroke tracking.
Is my data stored?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to a server.
